Start ’Em, Sit ’Em Wide Receivers Fantasy Football Week 10: Bounce-Back Game for Brandon Aiyuk
Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em is the ultimate look at the best and worst matchups based on a PPR scoring system in fantasy football. This column will not cover the elite players in the NFL like Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey or Justin Jefferson. Instead, I'll look at the players you have questions about who could exceed or fail to meet expectations at each position. For all of your final fantasy lineup decisions, be sure to check out my weekly player rankings which will be updated daily throughout the 2023 NFL season.

Week 10 Start ’Em: Wide Receivers
Start of the Week
Brandon Aiyuk at Jaguars (1 p.m. ET, Fox): Aiyuk’s numbers haven’t been great in recent weeks, as he’s failed to score more than 11.6 points in three of his last four games. Still, I like him to put up a nice total when the Jaguars host the Niners. Their defense has been awful against perimeter receivers, allowing the second-most points to the position including 77 receptions and nine touchdowns.

Start ’Em
Michael Pittman Jr. at Patriots (Frankfurt 9:30 A.m. ET, NFL Network): Pittman has been one of the most consistent wideouts in fantasy football, scoring double digits in all but one game. That trend should continue against the Patriots, who are generous to perimeter receivers. In fact, their defense has allowed four scores and the fourth-most points per game to the position over the last four weeks.
Christian Kirk vs. 49ers (1 p.m. ET, Fox): Kirk is coming off one of his worst stat lines of the season, scoring 8.6 points in a win over the Steelers. I’d keep the faith in the talented slot receiver though, as he faces a 49ers defense that’s been bad against the pass. In fact, the Niners have allowed three touchdown catches and the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing slot receivers in the last four weeks.
DK Metcalf vs. Commanders (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox): Metcalf is coming off his worst stat line of the season, scoring just six points in a loss to the Ravens. He has now averaged just 9.5 points in his last three games as well, but a matchup against the Commanders should be good for what ails him. Their defense has given up nine touchdowns and the third-most fantasy points to perimeter receivers in 2023.
DeAndre Hopkins at Buccaneers (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Hopkins has been up and down in the stat sheets, scoring fewer than 11 points five times in his last seven games. Still, he’s a nice No. 2 wideout or flex starter in a matchup against Tampa Bay. Over the last four weeks, their defense has allowed five touchdown catches and allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing perimeter receivers.

Week 10 Sit ’Em: Wide Receivers
Sit of the Week
Davante Adams vs. Jets (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC): Well, I never thought I’d have to do this. Adams, one of the elite receivers in all of football, has failed to score more than 12.7 points in five straight games including four with single digits. If that weren’t bad enough, he faces a Jets defense that’s allowed the fewest points to perimeter receivers. I’m hoping for a reverse jinx, but Adams is tough to trust.

Sit ’Em
George Pickens vs. Packers (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Pickens has seen his totals tumble in the last two weeks, scoring a combined 11.1 fantasy points on just 10 targets. That has much to do with the return of Diontae Johnson, who’s put up 38.5 points on 23 targets in that time. Pickens also faces a Packers defense that’s given up just two touchdowns to perimeter receivers, so he’s a risk-reward option.
Zay Flowers vs. Browns (1 p.m. ET, Fox): Flowers has scored single digits in each of his last two games, including last week’s 2.1-point stinker. He didn’t play in the fourth quarter of a blowout, but it still hurt in fantasy land. Next up is a bad matchup against the Browns, who have allowed just five touchdowns and the second-fewest points to wideouts. That makes Flowers a tough start this week.
Gabe Davis vs. Broncos (Mon. 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN): Davis has been as hard to predict as the weather in New England, scoring fewer than four points in three of his last four games. On the flip side, he’s also scored 20-plus points in two of his last five contests. He’ll be a huge risk against the Broncos, who have given up the fifth-fewest points per game to perimeter receivers in the last four weeks.
Michael Thomas at Vikings (1 p.m. ET, Fox): Thomas was held without a single fantasy point in last week’s win over the Bears, and he’s averaging just 9.8 points per game on the season. That’s a far cry from his previous elite totals. I’d beware the veteran against the Vikings, who have surrendered one touchdown and just 13.6 points per game to opposing perimeter receivers in the last four weeks.
