Start ’Em, Sit ’Em Quarterbacks Fantasy Football Week 10: Dak Prescott to Cut Giants Down to Size
Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em is the ultimate look at the best and worst matchups based on a PPR scoring system in fantasy football. This column will not cover the elite players in the NFL like Patrick Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey or Justin Jefferson. Instead, I'll look at the players you have questions about who could exceed or fail to meet expectations at each position. For all of your final fantasy lineup decisions, be sure to check out my weekly player rankings which will be updated daily throughout the 2023 NFL season.

Week 10 Start ’Em: Quarterbacks
Start of the Week
Dak Prescott vs. Giants (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox): Prescott has been on fire in the stat sheets, scoring 20-plus points in each of his last three games. I’d continue to ride him against the Giants, who are in an absolute tailspin after losing Daniel Jones and Darren Waller over the last two weeks. Prescott has also averaged more than 19 fantasy points in his last six home games against this NFC East rival.

Start ’Em
Jared Goff at Chargers (4:05 p.m. ET, CBS): Goff has been tough to trust as a road quarterback, but this week’s matchup against the Chargers makes him a nice option. Their defense has allowed five quarterbacks to beat them for more than 20 points this season, including four who have scored at least 24.9 points. In what should be a high-scoring affair, Goff is a good bet to produce this weekend.
Brock Purdy at Jaguars (1 p.m. ET, Fox): Purdy has been mediocre at best in his last two starts, scoring a combined 22.4 fantasy points. I still like him this weekend, however, as he faces a great matchup against the Jaguars. Their defense has given it up to quarterbacks, allowing the sixth-most points per game to the position. In all, five signal-callers have scored 17-plus points with four over 20 points.
C.J. Stroud at Bengals (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Stroud is coming off an historic contest, throwing for 470 yards with five touchdowns and scoring 41.8 fantasy points in a win over the Buccaneers. He should remain in starting lineups this week, as the rookie will face a Bengals defense that’s allowed four quarterbacks to beat them for 18-plus points including three who have scored more than 20 this season.
Geno Smith vs. Commanders (4:25 p.m. ET, Fox): Smith is hard to trust, as he’s scored 16 or more points just once in his eight starts this season. The good news is that he’s got a peach of a matchup next on the schedule, as the Commanders are in town. Their defense has been generous to quarterbacks, allowing 21-plus points to the position six times, including three who have scored 25-plus points.

Week 10 Sit ’Em: Quarterbacks
Sit of the Week
Deshaun Watson at Ravens (1 p.m. ET, Fox): Watson returned to work last week and posted a nice stat line, scoring 19 fantasy points in a win over Arizona. He has now scored 19 or more points in three of his four full games, but I’d still beware this week’s matchup against the Ravens. Over the last four weeks, no team in the NFL has allowed fewer fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks than Baltimore.

Sit ’Em
Trevor Lawrence vs. 49ers (1 p.m. ET, Fox): Lawrence has not lived up to his heightened expectations, averaging fewer than 16 points per game. So, while the Niners defense has been bad lately, it’s still allowed an average of just 13.5 points per game to quarterbacks for the full season. The 49ers are also coming off a bye and added DE Chase Young at the trade deadline, so beware Lawrence.
Russell Wilson at Bills (Mon. 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN): Wilson’s numbers haven’t been great in recent weeks, as he’s scored fewer than 14 points in two of his last three games. He could be in for a tough night in Buffalo, as their defense has been tough on quarterbacks. In fact, signal-callers are averaging a mere 13.3 points per game against them this season. Unless you’re in need, Wilson is a sit ’em.
Jordan Love at Steelers (1 p.m. ET, CBS): Love has gone from looking like a star to being very mediocre in the stat sheets. He’s failed to score more than 15.3 points in each of his last four games, during which time he’s averaged 12.2 points. He’s a gamble this week, too, as the Steelers have allowed just 12.3 points to opposing quarterbacks at home. Love is a super flex league option, at best.
Gardner Minshew at Patriots (Frankfurt, 9:30 a.m. ET, NFL Network): Minshew hasn’t been much of a fantasy contributor this season, scoring fewer than 15 points in all but one game. He’ll be a fade for me this week, as the Patriots have been tough on quarterbacks. In fact, their defense has held both Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa to fewer than 13 points. At best, Minshew is a super flex option.
