The celebration after the Padres snapped a six-game losing streak Saturday was cut short after San Diego dropped a game to the Reds Sunday afternoon. The Padres' bats weren't flying Sunday until back-to-back homers from Kim and Tatis Jr. in the eighth inning tied the game at 2 runs apiece.

Bob Melvin's decision to pull Tom Cosgrove after he allowed a walk proved costly when Nick Martinez let up a home run to Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson to put Cincinnati up 4-2.

In other news, fans have been seen wearing paper bags as the Padres continue to underperform their lofty preseason expectations. Juan Soto and Josh Hader were named to the NL All-Star team, but Tatis Jr., who had an electric June, was left off the roster.
