Former Reds Starting Pitcher Sonny Gray Signing With Cardinals
CINCINNATI — Former Reds starting pitcher Sonny Gray is expected to finalize a deal with the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
There was some speculation that Gray could end up in Atlanta, but instead he's headed to St. Louis.
He's signing a three-year, $75 million contract with the Cardinals according to Ken Rosenthal.
They've already added Lance Lynn and Kyle Gibson in free agency this offseason. Gray is their biggest addition and should help stabilize their rotation.
Gray spent three seasons in Cincinnati (2019-21). The Reds traded him to the Twins in exchange for minor league prospect Chase Petty. He posted a 2.79 ERA last season in 32 starts for the Twins.
