Donovan Mitchell Reveals That He Doesn't Do This During Games
If you've ever paid close attention to Donovan Mitchell when he's not in his Cleveland Cavaliers jersey or on the sideline of games. In that case, you may notice that he's usually always wearing glasses.
No, this isn't a fashion statement that Mitchell is trying to make. He genuinely needs glasses in order to see. Then you'd also assume that he wears contacts when he's playing.
That's where you'd be wrong.
During media availability before the All-Star game, Mitchell said:
"I'm very blind, I'll tell you that. I can't see but I don't wear contacts during the game. I just guess. I tried contacts in the pre-season and I shot like 26 percent from the field."
The reporter who asked the question also pointed out that Mitchell dropped 71 points earlier this season by just "guessing," which makes that performance even more impressive.
Even if he's "blind," Mitchell certainly hasn't looked like it this season. He's averaging a career-high 27.3 points and a career-high 38 percent from behind the arc. That's he'll be one of the starters in this year's All-Star Game.
