REPORT: Cavs And Danny Green Nearing Deal
Well, that escalated quickly.
A report came out earlier today that Danny Green was interested in signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers after being bought out by the Houston Rockets. Just a short time later another report surfaced that Green will in fact be singing with the Cavs.
It's a little shocking that this happened as fast as it did. There were multiple other teams that were connected to Green including the Celtics, Lakers, and Suns. All of these teams could have offered him a good chance at another Finals appearance and ring.
However, in the end, Green chose to sign with the team that could offer him the most playing time. Phoenix probably could've rivaled the Cavs in this department though.
The three-time NBA champion will provide veteran leadership and three-point shooting to the Cavs.
Green signing with the Cavs is also somewhat of a homecoming and full-circle moment for him. He played his first season with Cleveland during the 2009-10 year, but he wasn't the player we know him to be today.
In that short time frame, he averaged just 2.0 points while shooting 28 percent from three. Now, he's known as a three-point sharpshooter and is a career 39 percent from behind the arc.
Both of these traits will be fantastic additions to the Cavs' roster as they hunt for their first postseason appearance since 2018, outside of the play-in tournament from last season.
