CINCINNATI — The Bengals are getting a scheduling break in 2023.

Warren Sharp just released the 2023 strength of schedule for all 32 teams on SharpFootballAnalysis.com, and Cincinnati has the 15th easiest schedule based on 2023 win total projections.

Historically, basing schedule strength on projected betting win totals is a much more accurate way to predict upcoming results rather than using the opposing team records from the previous season.

Cincinnati was a rare outlier last season in that respect:

  • of the seven teams that actually had the easiest 2022 schedules, six went to the playoffs (Eagles, 49ers, Jaguars, Cowboys, Chargers, Chiefs)
  • of the seven teams that actually had the hardest 2022 schedules, two went to the playoffs (Dolphins, Bengals)
  • of the eleven teams that actually had the hardest 2022 schedules, only three went over their win total (Bengals, Steelers, Jets)

The Bengals faced a gauntlet last season and now own the fifth-best year-over-year change in schedule difficulty.

It should help the franchise as it tries to eclipse one of the highest 2023 win totals in the NFL (11.5 wins).
