Bengals QBs Coach Brad Kragthorpe Tells Favorite Joe Burrow Story: 'That Was Easy'

Cincinnati has shuffled up its coaching staff.
In this story:

CINCINNATI — The Bengals' new quarterbacks coach, Brad Kragthorpe, met with the media during this week's combine and dove into his favorite Joe Burrow story as he levels up again on the Cincinnati staff.

Kragthorpe has coached the Bengals' quarterback every season (except 2019) dating back to Burrow's first year at LSU, where the quarterback produced a memorable play.

"What kind of immediately comes to mind was in one of his first practices at LSU. When he was competing for the starting job, he had a play where we got to cross-dog pressure that he was essentially hot on. And so he had to drift back in the pocket just to be able to throw hot. That was really the third progression and the concept. And all of the coaches and players on the offense are all staying behind, so he drifts all the way back to complete it to the shallow cross as a hot answer.

"And I happen to be standing kind of in the vicinity of where he finished the play. And I said, 'Hey, nice play. I was like, I was really impressive. And he got a smirk and was like, 'That was easy.' jog around, turn around and shoulder back to the end. So that was kind of one of my first real impressions of Joe and obviously, it's pretty, pretty similar to how the rest of his career has gone so far."

Burrow has made plenty of plays like that in his football career as Kragthorpe and the rest of the staff look to optimize his game even more ahead of the 2024 season.
