Joe Burrow Discusses Improving on Different Arm Angle Throws in 2023: 'Experiment a Little Bit' This Time of Year

The Bengals passer is already one of the best pocket throwers in the NFL.

CINCINNATI — Joe Burrow is arguably the best pure pocket passer in the NFL today, but there are always things that can improve. He discussed one trait he's trying to work on this offseason: Different arm angle throws.

It's a trait the Bengals passer hasn't flashed as much as others during his meteoric rise in the league and one that the world's best quarterback (Patrick Mahomes) uses often.

"I think that would be a fair statement," Burrow said when asked about practicing that trait this offseason. "You always try to find things to work on and things that you can improve on. ... You're always tweaking and you're always getting better at different things, but I know that I can take a three-step drop and take a hitch and throw it on time where I want to, but I think this is the time of year where you can kind of experiment a little bit and find out what you can get away with and what you can do and what you can't so that's that's kind of what I'm doing right now."

Burrow had a few unlucky batted passes turn into interceptions last season and this could be a way to mitigate that, among other things.

"That's tough to say," Burrow said about what the different angles will unlock. "I think some more off-schedule plays, getting the ball in guy's hands maybe a little faster than years past. We'll see."

Burrow tied for the seventh-most interceptions among quarterbacks last season (12 along with Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers).
