Joe Burrow Praises Bengals Rookie Charlie Jones And Veteran DJ Reader as Offseason Moves Forward
CINCINNATI — Bengals defensive tackle DJ Reader has experienced the full turnaround from the franchise in the past few years. Joe Burrow praised the veterans' leadership this week as a big factor in where the team is today.
"DJ has been one of those key, key guys that we brought in early on to help build this culture," Burrow explained. "Everybody sees what he does on the field. That's not really what I'm talking about. The first time you meet DJ it's like you're with somebody that you've known for a long time. He's very personable, and those are the kind of guys that we love here, because they help build that locker room culture, built that team unity that you need to go out and win titles."
Veterans like Reader make a big impact, but we've also seen how rookies can impact title runs in the past few seasons. Purdue product Charlie Jones could be one of those key rookies on special teams and in the passing game.
"Charlie's a really talented player," Burrow declared. "Still learning the system just like with all the rookies, but he has all the potential in the world and I'm excited to see him grow. He's gonna be a great player for us."
Tyler Boyd is the man in the slot this season in what could be his final season as a Bengal.
