Zac Taylor Raves About Chidobe Awuzie's Recovery: 'Looked as Good as I Hoped'
CINCINNATI — Chidobe Awuzie has participated in 7-on-7 drills and 11-on-11 action in recent days and Bengals head coach Zac Taylor is impressed with the corner's recovery.
The Bengals' best cover player tore his right ACL last Halloween against Cleveland in a game the Bengals got blown out in.
"He's looked as good as I hoped he would look at this point in camp," Taylor told the media.
Taylor then praised the plan put together by the Bengals' training staff to have the star ready to go less than 11 months from the injury. Awuzie is the key player in a tweaked secondary with multiple new starters after Vonn Bell, Jessie Bates III, and Eli Apple left the team.
"He's made a lot of plays on the football," Taylor said on Thursday. "Done a great job preparing to put himself in a position to come out and play like this and so I'm pleased with the plan that Matt Summers and his crew had in place for Chido and Chido buying into it and I think we've integrated him into practice the right way and he's looking really good."
Cincinnati opens the regular season in a little over two weeks.
