Halftime Observations: Bengals Start Fast, Lead 49ers 14-10

Cincinnati is hoping to win their third consecutive game.
In this story:

SANTA CLARA, CALIF. — The Bengals have a 14-10 halftime lead over the 49ers. Joe Burrow and the offense scored on their first two possessions.

Here are our halftime observations:

Fast Start

The Bengals defense forced a 3-and-out to start the game and the offense started hot. JoeBurrow completed 7-of-9 passes for 60 yards. He found Tyler Boyd for a 6-yard touchdown to give Cincinnati a 7-0 lead.

San Francisco answered with a touchdown on the ensuing possession, but Burrow wasn't done. He led Cincinnati on a 6-play, 58-yard drive that ended with a two-yard touchdown pass to Andrei Iosivas

Burrow completed 21-of-23 first half passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns. He's completed passes to six different players.

Bad Turnover

Irv Smith Jr. fumbled the ball inside the 5-yard line with 38 seconds left in the half. The Bengals were close to extending their lead. Instead, the 49ers kept them from scoring.

The Bengals scored touchdowns on their first two possessions, missed a field goal on their third possession and fumbled right before the half. They should have more than 14 points.

The Bengals Will Win If...

Cincinnati gets the ball to start the second half. Finding a way to put points on the board would be huge. This team is much different when they're playing with a lead.

Burrow is playing well. The offensive line has protected well. Joe Mixon has 55 yards on seven attempts. He's running well and there have been huge holes to run through.

On defense, they have to find a way to keep Brock Purdy in the pocket. He's ran for 43 yards.
