CINCINNATI — Joe Mixon's future has been discussed a lot in recent months.

Not many, if anyone know if he'll be back in Cincinnati next season. Even former Bengals running back Samaje Perine, who was teammates with Mixon in college and for the past four seasons in Cincinnati, doesn't know what the future holds for the 26-year-old.

“I just felt it was time for me to make a name for myself wanting to do more offensively just because I didn’t know what they were going to do with Joe (Mixon)," Perine told Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette. "Obviously, he’s still a great back."

Mixon is set to make over $10 million in 2023 and has a $12.7 million cap hit. His future is uncertain.

Rather than signing with the Bengals and waiting to see what his role would be, Perine opted to sign a two-year, $7.5 million contract with the Broncos.
