Ja'Marr Chase Embraces Villain Role in Bengals' Win: 'I Just Felt Like Being an Evil Person Today'
Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase put on a show on Monday night against the Jaguars.
The 23-year-old caught 11 passes for 148 yards and one touchdown in Cincinnati's 34-31 overtime win.
He talked trash. He told teammates he wanted to be disrespectful. The third-year pro brought the energy and his teammates fed off of it. It's a great sign of leadership.
"That's all I wanna do is push the guys around me to be better," Chase told Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network.
"I was just going to be a jerk today," Chase said in the Bengals' locker room. "I just felt like being an evil person today.
He embraced the villain role. The Bengals were on the road in a must-win game against a team that has Super Bowl aspirations and they didn't have Joe Burrow. A lot of teams would've struggled.
Chase knew he had to step up and not only put up big numbers, but set the tone with his mindset.
Chase embraced the villain role and he walked out of Everbank Stadium with a win.
"I feel like one [a villain] right now," he said.
