Report: New York Jets Could Target Bengals Receiver Tyler Boyd in Free Agency

Boyd spent the first eight years of his NFL career in Cincinnati.
In this story:

CINCINNATI — Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd is set to become a free agent for the first time in his career next week. He's spent the past eight seasons in Cincinnati.

The New York Jets could make a run at Boyd in free agency according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer.

"For players looking for a one-year reputation bump, or older players trying to gravy train a ring, the New York Jets are, indeed, a destination,"

Breer wrote.

"I could certainly see one of the veteran backs we mentioned earlier, or someone like the Cincinnati Bengals’ Tyler Boyd, being added to the mix as well.

"The Jets have to be all-in for the here and now, and so I think they’re going to jump through hoops to make things right around Rodgers for his return from the blown Achilles. That means attacking the tackle problem both in free agency and the draft, along with supplementing at the skill positions around young stars Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall. Having Rodgers will certainly help New York recruit in those areas."

The Bengals took Boyd with the 55th pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He has 513 career receptions for 6,000 yards and 31 touchdowns.

The Steelers, Titans, Raiders and Patriots are some of the other teams that could target the veteran in free agency.
