Report: NFL Personnel Believe Cincinnati Bengals Will Trade Tee Higgins

Could Cincinnati get a deal done before the start of the new league year?
In this story:

CINCINNATI — The Bengals franchise tagged Tee Higgins last week. Could a trade be next?

ESPN's Dan Graziano believes a trade could happen in the near future.

"A lot of people in Indy seemed to think the reason the Bengals franchised Tee Higgins as early as they did was so they could trade him," Graziano wrote. "With a Ja'Marr Chase extension likely coming this offseason or next, Cincinnati might not be able to keep the band together around Joe Burrow much longer."

Higgins would make $21.8 million this season if he played for the Bengals on the franchise tag. If Cincinnati did want to move the 25-year-old, they would want to reach a deal before the legal tampering period begins on March 11 at Noon ET. That would give them the most cap space to use in free agency.

The team trading for Higgins would also want to have a long-term extension in place. A deal feels unlikely, but never say never.
