Will Bengals Pursue Christian Wilkins in Free Agency?

Miami isn't using the tag on the 28-year-old.
In this story:

CINCINNATI — The Dolphins aren't using the franchise tag on star defensive tackle Christian Wilkins according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

That means the 28-year-old will become a free agent next week and all 32 teams will be able to sign him.

Wilkins could be the top defensive tackle on the market with Chris Jones expected to re-sign with the Chiefs and the Ravens planning to use the tag on Justin Madubuike

Bengals defensive line coach Marion Hobby coached Wilkins for two seasons at Clemson. DJ Reader was teammates with Wilkins for one year. Could the Bengals re-sign Reader, add Wilkins and give themselves a dominant duo in the trenches?

Brad Spielberger of Pro Football Focus believes Wilkins could get a four-year, $100 million contract.

The Bengals aren't expected to swim in those waters and they could target mid-level defensive tackles, including Grover Stewart, Teair Tart and Sheldon Rankins.

They need to add multiple bodies to the middle of Lou Anarumo's defense. NFL teams can start negotiating with free agents on Monday, March 11 at Noon ET.
