NFL Salary Cap Higher Than Expected for 2024 Season

The Bengals are hoping to re-sign Tee Higgins, while adding key pieces in free agency
In this story:

CINCINNATI — The 2024 salary cap will be $255.4 million per club, the NFL announced on Friday. That's over $13 million more than projected.

The 2023 salary cap was $224.8 million. What does the increase mean?

Well, it gives every team more room to work with, including the Bengals. Cincinnati is projected to have more than $74 million in cap space following the increase.

Cincinnati already signed Joe Burrow to a long-term extension. Is Tee Higgins next? What about Ja'Marr Chase? Will the Bengals be able to keep the trio together?

The increase in salary cap certainly helps their chances of retaining some of their own players, especially a player like Higgins, who's expected to get franchise tagged.

As for free agents, every team has more money to spend, which will likely mean an increase in salary, especially for proven players.
