Report: Jets Releasing Former Bengals Tight End C.J. Uzomah
CINCINNATI — Former Bengals tight end C.J. Uzomah is heading back on the open market. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported the Jets are releasing Uzomah to save around $5 million against the salary cap.
The 31-year-old tight end reeled in 29 passes for 290 yards and three touchdowns in 27 games for New York after signing a three-year, $24 million contract with the Jets in 2022. Uzomah finished the 2023 season on injured reserve with an MCL injury.
He could be a nice return candidate for Cincinnati as a depth piece in a tight-end room with no names signed as of this writing.
Uzomah played in Cincinnati from 2015-21.
