Will Bengals Target Cowboys All-Pro Offensive Tackle Tyron Smith in Free Agency?

Cincinnati is expected to add a veteran offensive tackle.
In this story:

CINCINNATI — Will the Cincinnati Bengals make a run at former All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith?

The Cowboys are moving on from the 33-year-old according to Ian Rapoport.

The Bengals don't need a left tackle with Orlando Brown Jr. under contract for three more seasons, but they could certainly use a veteran at right tackle with Jonah Williams expected to sign elsewhere in free agency.

Smith has played 1,309 snaps at right tackle over his 13 year NFL career, but has primarily been the Cowboys left tackle.

Bengals offensive line coach Frank Pollack spent five seasons in Dallas (2013-17).

Could that relationship help Cincinnati sign the two-time All-Pro in free agency? Would Smith be willing to play right tackle for the Bengals?

Those are the two big questions that would need to be answered. It does sound like the front office is hoping to add a veteran offensive tackle over the next few weeks.

"We would like that to be manned on multiple fronts, but we’re concerned with having it manned well enough to provide us a chance to win next year," Bengals Director of Player Personnel Duke Tobin said. "That’s the No. 1 thing. So whether that’s a rookie on a four-year deal or a veteran on a 1-year deal, we’re open to anything there."

Smith may be a long-shot, but the Bengals will certainly have a discussion about the soon-to-be former Cowboys offensive tackle.
