DeAndre Hopkins Defends Cardinals QB Kyler Murray
Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray has always found his name in headlines.
That's partially a product of his success, as nobody reaches heights such as winning the Heisman Trophy and No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft without having some of their game picked apart.
However, due to Murray's interests off the field and how he conducts himself on it, there's plenty of talk surrounding Arizona's franchise quarterback - whether that be through study clauses, sideline rants or video games.
All are hefty talking points with Murray, and teammates DeAndre Hopkins defended his quarterback on the "I AM ATHLETE" podcast.
"I think people give him a tough time because of what you said - he's fiery. The dude is a competitor, a real competitor. I've never seen anything like it, and I love it," said Hopkins.
"That's why him and I sometimes butt heads, but it's love. It's like butting heads with your brother. Both of yall want to win, both of yall want to compete and you're mad as hell you're not getting the job done. For me, that's what it is. I'm pretty sure that's why he gets the stuff that he gets [when it comes to] his body language or whatever people say. But Tom Brady goes and cusses out everybody on the sideline or whatever, and [people say] 'Oh, that's Tom Brady' but when Kyler does it, it's the talking topic of everything.
"I think for him, he's misunderstood. But he's competitive … for me, I love it."
Hopkins is currently absent from voluntary OTA's and has found his name in plenty of trade speculation this offseason.
As of now, he's still with the Cardinals, and he'll continue to defend his quarterback.
