Five Players Cardinals Should Target From Eagles
We're just a few weeks removed from free agency, and the Arizona Cardinals are nearly done assembling their coaching staff for the 2023 season.
With the NFL Combine less than a week away, head coach Jonathan Gannon and other important members of the Cardinals will flock to Indianapolis to get a closer look at some top prospects within the 2023 NFL Draft.
However, gaps will first be plugged via free agency, and with 30 players in Arizona ready to see if the grass could be greener on the other side, there should be plenty of room for change on the roster.
Gannon and defensive coordinator Nick Rallis are fresh off a Super Bowl run with the Philadelphia Eagles, and could potentially bring a player or two with them in the process.
Five Players Cardinals Should Target From Eagles
DT Javon Hargrave
The Cardinals will need help in the defensive interior, and Hargrave (though he may come as the most expensive on this list) can alleviate a lot of those problems in Arizona's trenches. His athleticism and ability to rush the passer would be a great step in the right direction for a team that is losing J.J. Watt off the edge and potentially Zach Allen as well.
The prospect of pairing Hargrave with either Will Anderson, Jalen Carter or even a re-signed Allen is exciting.
CB James Bradberry
There's some hope that the Cardinals can retain Zach Allen, but let's not forget that Byron Murphy will also hit the open market. Arizona's secondary is top heavy at the moment, and Murphy's presence shouldn't knock the need for another strong corner on the roster.
Bradberry came on very strong this season for Philadelphia and will likely get paid as such after earning All-Pro honors. Should the Cardinals feel like they can compete again within a two-year window, the 30-year-old Bradberry would be a strong addition.
OG Isaac Seumalo
D.J. Humphries is the lone "starter" from Arizona's 2022 offensive line that is under contract, giving room for fresh faces across the board. That includes guards Will Hernandez and Justin Pugh.
Seumalo was an underrated part of a very, very talented Eagles offensive line that would be able to start from Day 1 for the Cardinals. Seumalo isn't the sexiest name on the market but his presence would be an upgrade in the desert.
OT Andre Dillard
This one is more of a dart-throw.
Dillard has started just nine games since being drafted as a first-round pick in 2019. Since that time, he has some experience playing in the interior as a guard after initially coming out as a left tackle.
With Humphries locking down the LT spot, Dillard would be a solid flexible piece as a backup LT or starting LG if needed. Should the Cardinals get him for cheap, this is at worst a depth move for Arizona to hold a first-round pick in the cards.
Versatility brings value.
QB Gardner Minshew
Look, the return of Kyler Murray is unknown at this point. The Cardinals shouldn't be in a rush to get their heftiest investment back before he's fully healthy, either.
Colt McCoy only gets older by the day and one of his greatest attributes in knowing Kliff Kingsbury's offense now means nothing.
Arizona could very well be in the market for a temporary replacement until Murray is ready to roll, and Gardner Minshew brings starting experience and a dash of athleticism to the table.
