Chargers News: Khalil Mack Emerges As Defensive Standout Of Week 4
With the Los Angeles Chargers needing a win last weekend to get themselves back to .500 before their bye week, they turned to veteran Khalil Mack to lead the way on defense. LA was missing other defensive stars, Derwin James Jr. and Joey Bosa, to injury, so they were undermanned against Las Vegas.
But Mack stepped up in a big way and helped deliver a huge win for the team. He put the team on his back and put the Raiders quarterback on the ground behind six sacks on the day.
“With Joey Bosa and Derwin James out with injuries (and cornerback J.C. Jackson effectively benched for a second straight game), it felt like the Chargers defense was totally out of stars. But then the old game-wrecking Mack made an appearance, with six sacks on Raiders rookie quarterback Aidan O’Connell.”

It was the kind of performance you don't usually see from a player, but he reminded everyone how dominant he can be. And for Mack to do this against his former team meant much more for him.
“Mack has been extremely hot and cold for the Chargers since he joined the team in 2022. But against his original squad, the Raiders? Ridiculously hot.”

Sometimes, a team needs a star player to go out and get them a win, and Mack did just that. It looked like the offense was going to carry the day after a strong first-half performance, but once the second half started, the offense looked very different. It was up to the defense to save the day once again, and Mack led the way.
The Bolts now head into the bye week feeling much better about themselves. They can take what they have done wrong and learn from it. They still have lofty goals, and the hope is that the big issues are behind them.
