When the NFL Draft begins selections in Arlington, Tex., April 26, the Houston Texans have the No. 68 pick overall in the third round.

Here is an in-depth look at the team’s needs, offseason changes, potential best fit and the selections by NFLDraftScout.com’s experts.

Who would you pick and why?

TOP 5 NEEDS

  1. Tackle: The Texans still need help across the offensive line. This isn’t a good tackle situation. Julien Davenport is unproven, but is now the starting left tackle. Jeff Allen has been a disappointment at right guard, but remains the starter.
  2. Secondary: Aaron Colvin is more of a slot corner than an outside corner. They still need help at cornerback on the perimeter. Safety remains a depth issue even after the addition of Tyrann Mathieu.
  3. Tight end: Following the retirement of C.J. Fiedorowicz due to concussions, this position is dangerously thin. Ryan Griffin is the primary tight end and they don’t view him as a starter.
  4. Running back: D’Onta Foreman is rehabbing from a torn Achilles. Lamar Miller averaged a career-low 3.7 yards per carry in 2017.
  5. Special teams: The Texans are throwing bodies at the problems in kick coverage. They need to keep looking for quality returners and kick coverage specialists although Johnson Bademosi should help.

THE PICKS

–BEST FIT: Deshon Elliott, S, Texas. The Texans don’t have first- or second-round draft picks. They need a lot of help at safety and tight end. A good third-round pick for them if available would be Elliott.

–Rob Rang: Brian O’Neill, T, Pittsburgh. Protecting the investment made in Deshaun Watson and his surgically repaired knee should be the Texans’ top priority in the draft. O’Neill is a bit raw but he possesses the size and athleticism to project as a future starter with experience at both left and right tackle.

–Dane Brugler: Joseph Noteboom, T, TCU. With no established tackles on the two-deep, the Texans might elect to keep Noteboom in Texas. He has versatile starting experience at both left and right tackle.
