When the NFL Draft begins selections in Arlington, Tex., April 26, the Los Angeles Rams have the No. 87 overall pick in the third round.

Here is an in-depth look at the team’s needs, offseason changes, potential best fit and the selections by NFLDraftScout.com’s experts.

Who would you pick and why?

TOP 5 NEEDS

  1. Outside linebacker: Robert Quinn was traded and Connor Barwin remains unsigned as a free agent. While second-year man Samson Ebukam is slotted at one spot, the Rams desperately need someone else on the other side.
  2. Inside linebacker: Alec Ogletree was traded away, creating a huge need alongside Mark Barron. The Rams believe there are quality options in the later rounds.

3: Tight end: Head coach Sean McVay’s offense works best with a dynamic two-tight end set. The Rams are still trying to get that dynamic figured out.

  1. Tackle: While Andrew Whitworth was a blessing on the left side, he is 36-years-old and the Rams need a long-term successor. The Rams eventually have to figure out a replacement.
  2. Center: John Sullivan still has good years ahead of him, but, like Whitworth, finding a successor is critical.

THE PICKS

–BEST FIT: Jeff Hollard, OLB, Auburn. The Rams need an outside linebacker and Holland flashes instincts, toughness and athletic ability as a 3-4 edge pass rusher. With the 87th pick overall, he represents good value.

–Rob Rang: Nyheim Hines, RB, North Carolina State. After leading the NFL with 19 combined touchdowns scored in 2017, Todd Gurley II is obviously the focal point of the Rams’ offense. Much smaller than the 6-foot-1, 227-pound Gurley, Hines’ (5-9, 197) electric speed (4.38 at the Combine) and soft hands could make him the perfect complement as the Rams surround Jared Goff with even more weapons.

–Dane Brugler: Nyheim Hines, RB, North Carolina State. Todd Gurley II is the face of the Rams’ offense, but Hines would add another dimension with his position flexibility in the backfield and slot, utilizing his pass-catching skills.
