2024 NFL Mock Draft: Georgia's New QB1 in the Top 10?

The defending champs' new starter could leap up the draft board with a strong 2023 campaign.

It's not uncommon for a quarterback prospect to come out of nowhere and land himself at the top of the draft board. Neither Kyler Murray nor Joe Burrow were on the radar heading into their respective final college seasons, but both ended up working their way into the No. 1 overall pick with stellar performances.

Could the same thing happen for Carson Beck, the new starter at Georgia?

That's what happens in the latest 2024 NFL mock draft from Pro Football Network, which has Beck leaping into the top-10 conversation, landing with the Washington Commanders at No. 8 overall.

There's not much film or production to go on just yet, but Beck obviously has the talent to command attention from NFL scouts, and should have one of the nation's best supporting casts this season in the back-to-back national champs.

USC QB Caleb Williams

Beck is the fourth quarterback off the board in this mock, following USC's Caleb Williams (No. 1 overall, Arizona Cardinals), North Carolina's Drake Maye (No. 6 overall, Atlanta Falcons), and Texas' Quinn Ewers (No. 7 overall, Tampa Bay Buccaneers).

Another surprise name sneaks into the first round as the only other signal-caller in this projection, as Tulane's Michael Pratt heads to the San Francisco 49ers at No. 31 overall.

A handful of other quarterbacks still have a chance to play their way into the first round (Tennessee's Joe Milton III, Oregon's Bo Nix, Florida State's Jordan Travis, Washington State's Cameron Ward, Washington's Michael Penix Jr.), but none of them make the cut in this mock.
