Background:

B.T. Potter started in all four years at South Pointe High School, where he scored 31 of 45 field goal attempts and 211 extra point attempts. As a senior, he averaged 37.1 yards per punt and was ranked as a top 3 placekicker in the nation. In 2018, Potter finished third in the country with 79 total touchbacks on 69.3% of his kickoffs. He also scored 1 of 1 field goal attempts and 7 of 7 extra point attempts. In 2019, Potter finished the year with 13 of 21 field goals, 79 of 79 extra point attempts, 79 touchbacks on 100 kickoffs, and the best kickoff average in the country at 63.8 yards. During the postseason, Potter eclipsed Greg Huegel’s single-season Clemson record for PATs and converted a career-long 52-yard field goal which was the longest in Clemson bowl history and the longest in College Football Playoff National Championship Game history. In 2020, Potter finished with 18 of 23 field goals, 61 of 61 PATs, and scored 115 points which were sixth most in the country. In 2021, Potter was named to the Second Team All-ACC after registering 21 of 26 field goals and 38 of 38 PATs. His success continued in 2022, where he again earned Second Team All-ACC and was a Lou Groza Award Semifinalist. At the conclusion of his collegiate career, Potter held numerous records, including the ACC record for career extra points as well as Clemson’s records for points scored as a kicker and consecutive successful PATs. He also tied the school’s record for career games played and became the first player to score 100 points in three straight years. Off the field, he earned degrees in Sports Communication and Athletic Leadership, completed internships, and was a three-time ACC Honor Roll member.
