Interview with Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins

Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins meets with the media in New York City on hand for the Heisman Trophy presentation, as he discusses his Heisman hopes and what's in store for his NFL plans. He also provides a glimpse at what it was like when head coach Urban Meyer informed the Buckeyes of his resignation.

Haskins said he knew Meyer's decision to step away from the game was coming, and he also acknowledged that he was proud of his head coach.

The redshirt sophomore has completed 348 of 496 passes (70.2 percent) for 4,580 yards, with 47 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Haskins also added four rushing touchdowns and 122 rushing yards.

While it has been reported that Haskins is set to declare for the NFL Draft following the Buckeyes' Rose Bowl game against Washington, he was non-committal about his decision regarding any future plans.

As a first-year starter there are not as many snaps to evaluate Haskins as most of the other 2019 Draft quarterbacks. He has displayed NFL-type talent and plays very well from the pocket. Haskins has certainly shown off an intriguing skill-set, wowing with his accuracy and arm strength.

Should he win the Heisman Trophy, it would give the Buckeyes seven winners of the award, which would tie an NCAA record (Notre Dame and USC). If he does declare for the draft, Haskins has the potential to be the first quarterback off the board.
