Data Reinforces 'Eye Test' For Ravens QB Lamar Jackson At Training Camp

After signing a lucrative contract extension this offseason with the Baltimore Ravens, quarterback Lamar Jackson is expected to take the next step as a passer.

The Baltimore Ravens signed quarterback Lamar Jackson to a five-year $260 million contract extension this offseason, and after throwing for just 2,242 yards last season, the superstar is expected to take the next step as a passer in 2023.

With training camp underway, Jackson has had the chance to show his coaches and teammates the improvements he made during the break, and the former Heisman Trophy winner has impressed.

Coach John Harbaugh was asked about Jackson's velocity and accuracy during Wednesday's press conference and expressed confidence in his quarterback.

"He’s looked very good at that, and it’s a good question," Harbaugh told reporters. "We do measure all that. We have metrics on that. There’s chips in the ball, and we look at the numbers on that, and the numbers bear that out, too."

Harbaugh explained that the data he has received reinforces the 'eye test' for Jackson.

"Whatever you’re seeing in terms of your eye — with the way he’s throwing — has been held true with the numbers," Harbaugh said. "He’s throwing the ball really well.”

Jackson has always been an effective quarterback with a career passer rating of 96.7, but Baltimore is hoping to elevate their passing game with new offensive coordinator Todd Monken in the building. A revamped receiving corp should also help Jackson take his game to new heights.

Numbers do not lie and the data says that Jackson is throwing better than ever.
