George Pickens Didn't Know Steelers Fired Matt Canada

The Pittsburgh Steelers wideout was probably the last to know about the news.
In this story:

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers made a change at offensive coordinator this week, firing Matt Canada and promoting Eddie Faulkner from running back coach.

The move came as a surprise to everyone in the locker room, and with the decision seemingly coming without much preparation for it, players learned of the news the same way the rest of us did - through social media and the news.

Not George Pickens.

Pickens tries very hard not to go on social media or check his phone much, and therefore, he had no idea he was walking into a team that made this drastic of a change. While the rest of his team found out on Tuesday, Pickens came into work on Wednesday to discover he was the last to know.

"I didn't even know," Pickens told reporters. "I'm not on social media. So, I ain't really looked until I came here and they let us in [on the news]."

Pickens says he hopes the offense is more explosive with the news, but isn't sure what will change without Canada.

"I would hope so," Pickens said about a more explosive team. "All I can do personally is just keep working, but I would hope so."

Most players learned the news as it broke, with social media exploding and then family and friends trying to reach out once they heard. Pickens was just enjoying his day off, only to come into work and realize his offensive coordinator was different.

Will it help? The Steelers will see. But they're hoping it does create the spark they've been looking for.
