PITTSBURGH -- The Houston Texans are waiving former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver and return specialist Steven Sims, according to KPRC2's Aaron Wilson.

Sims signed with the Texans during free agency after the Steelers chose not to tender him. He was considered Houston's top option as a returner but was unable to secure a roster spot as the team made their final cuts.

Sims played with the Steelers in 2022, catching 19 passes for 105 yards. He was also their primary punt and kick returner, averaging 5.5 yards per punt and 25.5 yards per kick return.

The 26-year-old has played 41 games in his NFL career, including six starts, and has caught 75 passes for 679 yards and five touchdowns. He's totaled 1,295 kick return yards with one touchdown and has averaged 24.9 yards per return in his four-year career.
