Steelers Rookie Broderick Jones Wants Shot Against Myles Garrett

The Pittsburgh Steelers rookie is hoping for an opportunity if Chuks Okorafor can't go.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers are uncertain how their offensive tackle position will look in Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns as Chuks Okorafor battles through a concussion in hopes of playing.

If he doesn't, rookie first-round pick Broderick Jones will strap up on the right side, with Dan Moore Jr. remaining as the left tackle. It would be Jones's first NFL start, and would come against some pretty big competition in Myles Garrett, but he's excited for it.

"I feel like it’s an opportunity for me to showcase what I can do, just being able to get to work with somebody as good as him, and the whole front of the Browns," Jones said. "They have a lot of good talent up front. They don’t spend all that money for no reason. There’s some talent up there on both sides. I feel like it’ll be a good challenge for me and a way for me to showcase my athleticism and what I can do."

Jones started as a left tackle in college and played strictly left tackle throughout training camp. After Okorafor went down, the Steelers decided to put the rookie on the right side as he feels more comfortable at the position than Moore.

Jones told All Steelers he used to play both sides as Georgia so the team was prepared for any scenario.

If he does get the start, he'll be facing one of the top-two bets for this year's Defensive Player of the Year, and a player who brings back-to-back 16-sack seasons with him to Pittsburgh.
