The Pittsburgh Steelers added and removed players from their roster.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers made a flurry of roster moves ahead of their Week 11 battle with the Cleveland Browns. The team announced five separate transactions just before the deadline for game day.

The Steelers announced the activation of tight end Pat Freiermuth off of Injured Reserve. Freiermuth has been dealing with a hamstring injury since Week 4, and was placed on IR in Week 7. He returned to practice this week and is expected to paly against the Browns.

Pittsburgh followed that move by placing safety Keanu Neal on IR due to a rib injury. Neal left Week 10 after a late-game interception and was unable to do any work at practice throughout the week. He'll now miss at least the next four weeks.

To fill one of their empty roster spots, the Steelers signed inside linebacker Mykal Walker to their 53-man team from their practice squad. Walker was signed roughly three weeks ago, and head coach Mike Tomlin said the acquisition wasn't for a developmental reason but to allow Walker to accommodate himself to the defense before being activated.

Walker will help replace the loss of Kwon Alexander and Cole Holcomb, who were both placed on IR.

Pittsburgh also elevated safety Trenton Thompson and inside linebacker Tariq Carpenter. Both players were added to the active/inactive list last week as well, marking their Steelers debuts.

Thompson is actually expected to start against the Browns while the team is without Neal and Minkah Fitzpatrick.
