PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially made a swap at cornerback, releasing veteran Desmond King and signing fifth-round rookie Darius Rush, the team announced.

King signed with the team just before the regular season but played just two games for Pittsburgh and one defensive snap. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the team attempted to trade him but were unable to find a partner, and so, they'll let him hit the free agency market.

He finished his time with the Steelers without a tackle, and four kick returns for 88 yards.

Rush was originally drafted by the Indianapolis Colts but did not make the team's initial 53-man roster. He was claimed by the Kansas City Chiefs but was later waived and then signed back to the practice squad.

The former South Carolina standout will need to be on the active roster for a minimum of four weeks, however, the Steelers do not have to make him active on gamedays.
