Steelers Trade Kendrick Green to Texans
PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have made their second offensive line trade, sending guard/center Kendrick Green to the Houston Texans, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Green follows guard Kevin Dotson out of Pittsburgh as the Steelers finalize their 53-man roster. The former third-round pick was on the bubble to make the team in Pittsburgh, and instead of waiving him, the Steelers made a trade.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Steelers received a sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft from Houston.
Green fell to the bottom of the Steelers depth chart after starting at center his rookie season. He was inactive for every game in 2022 and was looking at a third-string role if he did make the team this season. Pittsburgh also tried to work him at fullback during training camp, but the experiment lasted only a week.
With Green's departure, seventh-round rookie Spencer Anderson is likely a lock to make the Steelers' roster. He's been worked at all five offensive line positions, but has seen most of his action at center and guard.
