LOOK: Texans Reveal Week 2 Uniforms vs. Colts
After losing to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1, the Houston Texans will return to NRG Stadium for their home opener in Week 2, welcoming the division-rival Indianapolis Colts to town.
For their first home game of the season, the Texans plan to go with a white-on-white look against the Colts. They announced this on X, formerly known as Twitter.
This will mark the second consecutive week that the Texans have worn their "liberty white" tops to open the 2023 season. However, last Sunday in Baltimore, the Texans wore their "deep steel blue" pants with the white tops for what was ultimately a 25-9 loss to the Ravens.
A year ago, the Texans wore the white-on-white uniform combination on two occasions, including another Week 1 matchup with the Colts, which ended in a 20-20 tie.
As the Texans plan to go with white-on-white for the first regular season home game of quarterback C.J. Stroud and pass rusher Will Anderson Jr's careers, the Colts plan to counter with their classic blue tops and white pants for quarterback Anthony Richardson's first road game. The Colts wore the same uniform combination in Week 1, when they lost to 31-21 to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Texans continue to tease a uniform refresh for the 2024 season, which would mark the first major rebrand since they entered the league as an expansion team in 2002. While there have been hints that the Texans could embrace an Oilers-esque shade of blue, it's unclear exactly how that would work considering the Oilers moved to Tennessee in 1997 and eventually rebranded as the Titans in 1999.
The Titans, however, still technically are the Oilers franchise, and plan to wear the "Luv Ya Blue" throwbacks on two occasions this season, including in Week 15 against the division-rival Texans.
