Titans Complete Coaching Interview with Texans OC Bobby Slowik
NASHVILLE — Houston offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, an important player in the Texans' success story this year, became the seventh person to interview virtually for the Tennessee Titans coaching opening.
Slowik met with Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk and general manager Ran Carthon via Zoom to discuss the coaching vacancy created when Adams Strunk fired Mike Vrabel after a 6-11 season.
Fans unfamiliar with the Texans' first-year coordinator should watch the team's playoff victory against the Cleveland Browns. Slowik's contribution to rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud's development has been a critical factor in the Texans' advancement to the divisional round of the playoffs.
Slowik joined the Texans as their offensive coordinator this season after working as the offensive passing game coordinator with the 49ers for six seasons.
During his six seasons with the 49ers from 2017 to 2022, Slowik held various roles on Kyle Shanahan's staff, including passing game coordinator, passing game specialist, and offensive assistant. Slowik and Texans coach DeMeco Ryans started as defensive quality control coaches in San Francisco during the same season.
The Titans so far have interviewed Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan, Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, Raiders interim coach Antonio Pierce, Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, Cowboys defensive doordinator Dan Quinn, and Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas Brown.
The Detroit Lions' Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson and the Philadelphia Eagles' Brian Johnson are still expected to get initial interviews.
