Wes Miller Takes Blame Following Xavier's Dominant Performance in Crosstown Shootout
CINCINNATI — Xavier left no doubt in Saturday night's 83-63 drubbing of Cincinnati.
The Crosstown Shootout is supposed to be a rivalry game, but the Musketeers rolled over the Bearcats.
Xavier has won three-straight in the most unique rivalry in college sports. Cincinnati head coach Wes Miller took the blame following an ugly loss.
"They're a really good basketball team. They were quicker to the ball tonight," Miller said after the game. "We got our tail kicked in every way you can get it kicked. I told our team in there I didn't prepare us to play. I gotta do better as a coach, we gotta be better as a team. Unacceptable, the way that we played in here tonight."
It was Miller's first Crosstown Shootout. The Musketeers were expected to win the game, but the way they dominated their rival is concerning.
The Bearcats are 7-3 on the year following the loss. They play Florida A&M on Tuesday night at Fifth Third Arena.
"We will come back. This team has a lot of character. We'll come back, we'll get back to work," Miller said. "We'll try to get back to playing the way that we played for the most part the last month or so and we need to use this to become a better team."
