Ahmad Gardner Notches Pick-Six, Impresses in Jets' Final Open Minicamp Practice
CINCINNATI — Ahmad "Sauce" Gardner is fitting right into his new role as the New York Jets No. 1 cornerback. The former Bearcats star played lights out in the team's final practice open to the media. According to The Athletic's Connor Hughes, Gardner intercepted Zach Wilson in a 7-on-7 drill and took it 100 yards for a touchdown.
On top of the score, Gardner also broke up another pass when matched up against fellow top-10 pick Garrett Wilson. The Bearcats' highest draft selection in program history intercepted nine passes and posted 16 pass breakups during his time at UC.
He'll surely have plenty more opportunities to make plays as a rookie—we'll see if he can set up another no-fly zone early in his career as he did in college.
