CINCINNATI — There is plenty of uncertainty surrounding the Bearcats QB battle heading into fall camp. That played a part in UC's standing on ESPN's tiered college QB situation list. Cincinnati's pair of passers came in at Tier 12 and had 63 other QB scenarios tiered ahead of them.

"The other four teams in this tier face equally perplexing questions," David Hale wrote. "Cincinnati must replace a star in Desmond Ridder, and while Bryant was a former ESPN300 recruit and threw for 3,100 yards at Eastern Michigan last season, Ridder's are huge shoes to fill."

Bryant was not an ESPN300 recruit but the point stands: national media is having a hard time figuring out what the future of UC's most important position holds.

The two capable players should breed a great competition throughout August, and they won't have any chances to onboard slowly into a starting role. Arkansas figures to rank inside the preseason AP Top-25. Even if they don't make the cut, starting the season on the road in the SEC usually isn't easy.
