CINCINNATI — UC football defensive coordinator Bryan Brown and offensive coordinator Brad Glenn met with the media on Thursday.

Check out some of their best comments as Spring Football kicks off in just a few days, starting with Brown.

On The Defensive Line:

Yeah, we're excited about the defensive line from what those guys done last year, but as well as what our scheme is defensively here now. Our defensive line is gonna be a very, very key part of our success here at Cincinnati. And having a guy like (Jowon) Briggs, (Dontay) Corleone, (Malik) Vann, you think about, you know, just all those guys coming back. It's gonna be exciting. But you're right. It's like a kid in a candy store. Right now seeing those guys move around. So now I'm ready to see them put the pads on and let's get them things clacking. That's what I'm ready to see. So we're excited about that.

On More Portal Additions After Spring:

Well, I think you know, once you go through spring ball, you have a little bit more inkling of what you want to try to get out of the portal. But you know, we really wouldn't mind having maybe another safety for sure, and a possible pass rusher. That's what we'll probably be looking for.

On Knowing Daniel Grzesiak's Role In His Defense:

Not yet you know we are in spring ball, it starts next week and as of right now we have him as a stand-up guy outside linebacker, and you know similar to what we had #22 (Amir Abdullah) in Louisville last year. So we're gonna use him in multiple different ways. So he can go back and use his talents to the best of his ability. And we're excited to have a guy like him on our roster here.

Glenn On Coaching Receivers For The First Time This Decade:

I've been doing this for a long time. Probably, I've lost count 30 plus years of coaching or right around 30 years, and you know, I started coaching receivers. I probably got 10 to 12 seasons of coaching the wideouts under my belt. That's kind of where I first began in this business. But it's been a while, you know, the last 14 (years) I've coached quarterbacks, but it's exciting, you know, to go back and think about those guys. You know, in the passing game and being a quarterback coach, you always kind of work directly with them. So it never really leaves you. You know, when you're coaching a quarterback. So it'll be a quick transition.

On The Inside Zone Run Plays Being His Calling Card And Meshing Outside Zone:

The inside zone was a big play for us at that time. It's kind of always been a play that I've kind of hung my hat on the different stops that I've had. And then, you know, Coach Satterfield when he was the head coach at out, they kind of got to the outside zone off the ground, and it has been a phenomenal play, for them since that time, and you know, that'll be a staple of our offense for sure.

On Offensive Things He'll Add That Differ From Satterfield:

We ran tempo back in those days, I think I've kind of upped that up a little bit, you know, been a little bigger part of my game. I think if you look back over the years, you know, at Western Carolina, and then at App (State), Western Carolina, Georgia State, the tempo was a huge part of it. And then spacing, you know, just using the entire field, some of the oversplits by the receivers maybe a little bit more RPO, you know, branched out from that standpoint than what Scott's done in the past. But again, you know, our beliefs at the end of the day are very similar. You know you got to run the football to win championships.
