CINCINNATI — Former Bearcats quarterback Desmond Ridder is showcasing his talents at the NFL Combine next week. ESPN's Matt Bowen likes a lot of what he's seen from Ridder and dove deeper into his tape this week.

The former NFL safety summed up Ridder's draft profile after combing through multiple games over the past two seasons.

"Athletic, narrow frame. Pace and touch thrower," Bowen wrote about Ridder. "Can generate velocity when needed on out-breakers. Ability to isolate/eliminate from the pocket. Detailed, efficient footwork. Movement traits to escape. Can be deployed as a situational runner. Long release (with low arm angle) must be corrected. Inconsistent ball location/accuracy can force receivers to work. Average deep ball arm strength. Projects as a future starter in a schemed NFL pass game with play-action elements."

At this point of the draft season, Ridder is the consensus fifth-best quarterback in the 2022 class. He slots in at No. 49 overall after averaging 102 big boards and is going in the first round of mock drafts 29.1% of the time.
