Watch: Trent Dilfer Analyzes new Bearcats Quarterback Luther Richesson
CINCINNATI — Luke Fickell brought in one quarterback from the Class of 2022. Lipscomb Academy (Nashville, TN) passer and Elite 11 finalist Luther Richesson is now a Bearcat after starring under head coach and former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer.
Richesson is the first Elite 11 finalist UC's ever signed, and Dilfer broke down his game after the QB put pen to paper.
Lipscomb Academy ascended every season under Richesson and capped his career with a 2021 state title. Richesson passed for over 7,700 yards and 87 touchdowns in his high school career. He'll join a crowded quarterback room saying goodbye to the best passer in school history.
Redshirt freshman Evan Prater is in line to take over for Desmond Ridder in 2021—but he'll have plenty of competition from freshman Brady Lichtenberg, freshman Jacob Hoying, junior Jack Perry, and Richesson. There are also plenty of quarterbacks available in the transfer portal, including a fresh entry in Florida quarterback Emory Jones.
Prater will have every opportunity to win the job, but it comes down to talent and execution. If Richesson proves he's the best option as a true freshman, then the job is his for the taking. Watch the breakdown from Dilfer below.
