Bearcats Offensive Linemen Join Forces to Help Pack Supplies for Tornado Victims
CINCINNATI — Tornadoes ravaged neighboring states of Ohio this past weekend—so a few members of the Bearcats offensive line decided to do their part and help pack supplies onto a semi-truck at Beechwood High School.
Offensive linemen Vince McConnell, Lorenz Metz, and Joe Huber all got together over group text to help send another truck of much-needed supplies down to our friends in Kentucky.
"I just feel like, seeing the damage that's been done to that community, they really need the support from everybody," said McConnell, who accepted a Hula Bowl invite this week. "I just got a text in our O-line group chat, and everybody was just real responsive. Everyone wants to help the people in Mayfield."
A storm cell over the weekend sparked a horrifying tornado estimated to have traveled 200-plus miles on its destructive path. Towns like Mayfield, KY, and others bore the brunt of the storm.
The three Bearcats offensive linemen signed their names on the supplies. Volunteers are looking to send a fourth truckload down this week after ending the supply drop-off on Tuesday night. More Bearcats players are expected to help with the Beechwood supply drive on Wednesday. Watch the full video story from WKRC right here.
