CINCINNATI — Luke Fickell and the Bearcats secured another commitment from the 2023 class in four-star wide receiver Malik Elzy out of Simeon (Illinois). Elzy is the 21st commitment for UC from the Class of 2023—and the second-highest-rated player behind Daeh McCullough.

According to On3 consensus, Elzy is the 318th-ranked player nationally and the 45th-ranked wide receiver. He held over 25 offers from schools like Illinois, Notre Dame, and Tennessee. None could match what the Bearcats' staff did in their pursuit of the powerful receiving presence.

Luke Fickell is building this program on physicality—something Elzy boasts in spades at 6-foot-3, 198 pounds. The junior uses his frame to straight maul defenders in the open field. His yards-after-catch ability is elite and squeezes every possible inch out of a play.

Elzy's route-running also stands out as a big contributor to his four-star status. He uses clever hesitation moves to start plays and has great chemistry with his QB on timing throws. Add in an advanced ability to high-point footballs for a high schooler, and there's not much to complain about with Elzy. Check out his highlights here.

Cincinnati had slipped down the national team rankings on all four major services in recent weeks, but the addition of Elzy should keep them well in the running for a top-20 class when pen goes to paper in December.
