Desmond Ridder Named AAC Football Scholar Athlete of the Year
CINCINNATI — The accolades keep rolling in for Desmond Ridder. Cincinnati's greatest quarterback just got named the AAC Football Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Ridder earned a 3.4 GPA as he captured a degree in sports administration. All of this comes after the Kentucky native earned finalist honors in 2021 for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award—on top of being named the 2021 and 2020 AAC Offensive Player of the Year.
Ridder ended his career with the most touchdowns in UC and AAC history (113), on top of the most total yards in either's history (12,418). No UC player had made First-Team Academic All-American since 1997 until Ridder pulled off the feat. He'll look to build on all of that success when he battles Marcus Mariota for the Atlanta Falcons starting QB job beginning this month.
