UC Football Falls Slightly in Latest ESPN Recruiting Rankings
CINCINNATI — The biggest recruits across the country are starting to lock in commitments, prompting a fresh set of class rankings from ESPN. UC checked in at No. 14 on Craig Haubert's list, a two-spot drop from his most recent rankings.
"The Bearcats are showing they are ready for a move to the Big 12 with their play on the field and their ability to recruit among the better classes in the country," Haubert wrote. "ESPN 300 defender McCullough is a DB with nice size and quick feet who can be a physical presence. Four-star LB Trevor Carter was a big in-state win, and interior OL Evan Tengesdahl was another strong, home-state pickup, as he took home positional MVP honors this spring at the Under Armour Camp in Ohio. Khamari Anderson can be a productive target in the passing game, as he is a smooth runner with good hands. High three-star RB Covey can be a versatile player, as he possesses great ball skills and can be a productive receiving target out of the backfield."
Looking at the three other major services and Cincinnati checks into similar spots: 247Sports has them at No. 11, Rivals ranks UC ninth, and On3 ranks Luke Fickell's haul 21st thus far.
Any way you slice things, it would be shocking if this isn't the highest-ranked consensus UC class in the history of these four major services. The Bearcats are now firmly fighting for every high three-star name they go after and have been consistently landing multiple four-stars over the past few cycles.
A top-ten final ranking is unlikely at this point, but if the first five years of Fickell Finesse is any indication, the program's first five-star recruit and top-ten ranking are on the way.
