CINCINNATI — One of the pillars from UC's 1992 Final Four run is taking a Division 1 head coaching job. According to Blue Gold News, West Virginia assistant coach and former UC player Erik Martin is taking the South Carolina State head coaching job.

Martin has been on Bob Huggins's staff at Kansas State/West Virginia since 2006 and interviewed for the open UC job last year before the school hired Wes Miller. Huggins reportedly recommended that SCSU hire Martin, and they listened.

Martin heads up a team that went 15-16 last season and 7-7 in the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference. The forward transferred from TCU and played his final two college seasons at UC, helping the team reach the Final Four and Elite Eight.`
