CINCINNATI — Today's trip into the transfer portal involves football and basketball. Starting with the latter, Cincinnati is in contact with Morehead State's Johni Broome.

The 6-foot-10 forward was the OVC Defensive Player of the Year this past season and is one of the top players in the portal. Broome averaged 16.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 3.9 blocks last season.

The human black hole swallowed up opposing defenders all season. His 3.9 blocks per game ranked third nationally, and he posted the fourth-best block rate in the country (13.9%). Broome lives near the basket, but he isn't a stiff offensively.

Broome posted a respectable 56.9% true shooting rate on 440 FG attempts last season. The star made first-team All-OVC during both seasons at Morehead and is Evan Miya's 22nd-ranked player and third-ranked power forward. He is receiving interest from schools like Indiana, Florida, Georgia, Gonzaga, LSU, NC State, Ohio State, Texas, Texas Tech, and West Virginia.

Next in portal news is an exit from the Bearcats' football program. Cornerback De'Arre McDonald is transferring to Middle Tennessee State.

The 2020 three-star recruit did not see playing time with the Bearcats after redshirting in 2020.
