Recruiting Roundup: UC Offers Four-Star Edge Rusher, Three Other Local Recruits
CINCINNATI — The new UC football staff is putting actions to their words when it comes to recruiting in the Cincinnati area.
The team offered four local players from Taft High School on Friday starting with 2024 four-star defensive end Elias Rudolph.
According to 247Sports, Rudolph is the 116th-ranked player in this class and the 11th-ranked edge rusher. ESPN has him ranked 140th overall and 19th among edge rushers.
He holds 20 offers and is projected to sign with Ohio State. Cincinnati offered him while Luke Fickell was still in town, and they aren't letting him fade off the radar. He was a monster in 2022, posting 87 tackles, 17.5 sacks, and 15 TFLs, to round out a Southwest District Player of the Year campaign.
Rudolph is a bit slight at 6-foot-5, 215 pounds, but he's bendy as hell and usually the most athletic player on every snap. He has a great speed rush and spin move combo that he uses to win on the outside. When he lines up inside, that speed pops even more. A lot of his highlights remind me of Myjai Sanders.
The other ranked offer went out to 2024 three-star safety Quinton Price.
According to 247Sports, Price is the 59th-ranked safety nationally and the 29th-ranked player in Ohio. He holds four other offers from Purdue, Kentucky, Miami (Ohio), and West Virginia.
Price is a lanky cornerback with big strides at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds. He's listed as a safety on 247Sports but mostly plays along the boundary at outside cornerback. Those strides help him latch onto receivers off their release and he has punch out on his mind at all times when pursuing players in the open field.
The junior has all of the tools to rise in this class during the camp season and his senior campaign.
The final two offers went out to 2024 athlete Jay'Quan Bostic, and 2024 cornerback Tayshawn Banks.
Neither is ranked in the 2024 class of this writing. Banks has 12 offers from schools like Penn State, Pitt, and Kentucky, while Bostic has seven offers from schools like Pitt, Toledo, and Georgia Tech.
Check out their highlights below.
One last note on the local recruiting scene, QBs coach Pete Thomas stopped by Winton Woods for a visit.
UC's new staff is working hard early to make sure local coaches know their school is still a big-time player for top talent.
